The diamond is particularly well cut, and it has absolutely outstanding brilliance! A beautifully executed work of craftsmanship, the 18k white gold setting is richly textured with stunning and well preserved hand engraving! The gallery is adorned with spring green French cut emeralds for a sophisticated pop of color. The design is iconically Art Deco and a testament to the mastery of the original 1920s artisan. It is an excellent choice for an engagement or right hand ring that is not only beautifully designed and eye-catching, but also fully unique and steeped in history. The large 2.24ct center diamond is exceptionally clean, graded VS1 for clarity. Even under 10x magnification, there are no visible inclusions. The diamond is graded M for color with only very very subtle warmth. Part of the diamonds antique charm, it does show a subtle hint of warmth when looking at the side, as is typical for diamonds from its time period. However, on the face up, the bright white reflections in the diamonds sparkle largely overwhelm the color.
Looking straight down onto the stone it is hard to notice the warmth, especially when out in daylight. The ring has a natural white gold finish, without rhodium, which also greatly helps to keep the diamond appearing white. The natural white gold finish gives the ring a true antique look and looks perfect with this diamond.Overall, it is a magnificent diamond, full of life and fire. The emeralds are a vibrant green reminiscent of new spring shoots. Part of their nearly century long journey, the emeralds do have some minor abrasions and signs of wear. They do not jump to the eye and can only be seen by the naked eye under close scrutiny in one emerald. It is likely that the emeralds are synthetic, as this was typical for the time period; however, importantly, they are original to the piece and were cut by hand. With their old French cuts, these emeralds are very rare! The setting is solid 18k white gold. The piece was originally made by hand in the 1920s, and it is a beautiful display of Art Deco craftsmanship. The ring measures 13.8mm across (north south) and 5.1mm from finger to top. Carefully crafted a lifetime ago at the zenith of Art Deco design, this ring is an enduring connection to history, a wearable artifact of a past epoque! For additional details, please see below.
