Antique, Victorian era piece w/ nice patina. This antique bar brooch/pin was crafted during the Art Deco period in solid 14k yellow gold and features 12 beautiful green tourmaline stones which are round old mine cut and all prong mounted. The gorgeous, circle brooch with old cut gemstones are channel set within the two circles gives the piece a truly charming look as they are absolutely rich and vibrant..

This brooch is framed throughout with fine milgrain etching work that adds a hint of class, and is secured with a pin and bar lever closure. Original finish and patina have been preserved offering a wonderful authentic look. This fine old circle brooch is clearly marked on the back: B. NYC Jeweler Black, Starr & Frost... All in very fine condition...

Probably dating to the 1930's time period. The makers mark BS&F indicates the American jeweler - Black, Starr and Frost. Located on the back of this brooch. Founded in 1810 by Isaac Marquand Black, Starr & Frost opened as Marquand & Co. At 164 Broadway in New York City, making it the oldest continuously operating jewelry firm in the United States.

At that time, two store clerks William Black and Henry Ball eventually joined the firm, which became Black, Ball & Company. In 1912, then named Black, Starr & Frost moved their offices to the southeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 48th Street. Black, Starr & Frost has had a number of notable clients, such as the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Carnigies, Guggenheims, Bunny Mellon, Elizabeth Taylor and Zsa Zsa Gabor.
