COLOMBIAN EMERALD Diamond Ring 14K Yellow Gold Modernist Unique Geometric 1970s
Here we have a one of a kind custom made natural Colombian emerald and diamond cluster ring in solid 14K gold circa 1970. This unique mid century modernist ring has an exquisite geometric design. The design is inspired looking beautiful at every angle. To be it is a little reminiscent of a pyramid.
The staggered geometry has many layers and strong horizontal lines created through the setting and arrangement of the precious untreated natural emeralds and diamonds. Very fine indeed this green emerald ring is entirely handmade with no cast or machined elements. The workmanship is of exquisite quality. Today virtually no contemporary jewelry is manufactured this way due to the cost, hours and skill involved.
Even at the time this ring was made around 50 years ago few jewelers would have had the skill to make this anniversary ring entirely by hand as this has been done. Inside the shank it is clearly marked for 14 karat yellow gold, confirmed by testing.
It weighs 7.13 grams approximately. Currently a size 6 US it can be resized within a wide range. The total emerald weight is 1.30 carats these emeralds are round cuts each set by hand and are beautifully matched for color. To accent these wonderful natural untreated earth mined emeralds there are eight old cut VS/SI clarity G color fine white diamonds with a total weight of 0.12 carats. In total the carat weight of precious emeralds and diamonds is 1.42 carats. This gorgeous and unique geometric design emerald engagement ring is in beautiful condition and is ready to gift or to wear.The photos form part of the description. These diamonds are diamonds but are man made. The diamonds in this ring are mined from the earth and are natural diamonds. In recent years emeralds have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with polymer resin, sometimes the polymer is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone.
Glass can be used in a similar way. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of an emerald.
